~ Welcome, new members of the Photocard Forum! :D ~
~ And, hello again, to all of those members that have been around for a while! :D ~
We mods have been discussing an Official Forum Rules thread lately.
Most threads/boards have instructions, rules, and guidelines posted in them already, but we wanted to make a compiled list of all of these rules, and have them all in one place for easy access. This will make it easier for both new and old members alike, as all rules will be in one spot.
The rules are going to be divided into categories for ease of access and reference:
- General Posting Rules & Guidelines
- Signature/Avatar/Display Name Rules & Guidelines
- Image Posting Rules & Guidelines
- Buying/Selling/Trading Rules & Guildelines
- Acceptable Payment Methods Allowed on the Photocard Forum
- Back-out Fees
**NOTE** that this rules & guidelines post is always going to be incomplete, as new rules & guidelines will be made (and old ones will be changed/improved) as our community continues to grow.
Any new or majorly changed rules will be sent out via a mass Private Message so that all members will know as soon as possible.
~ General Posting Rules & Guidelines ~
These are rules & guidelines that must be followed in any and all posts made on this forum.
These rules are in place to ensure that our forum remains a safe and friendly place for photocard collectors and Kpop lovers to gather and discuss the things we love most: Kpop and photocards!
- Be kind and courteous to others: tensions may run high in some threads (i.e., the Venting Thread), but please remain courteous to others at all times. Any members that posts rude or hateful comments towards other members will receive a warning from the mods. Repeat offenders may be subject to temporary or permanent bans from the forum. If you, as a member, receive an unkind or hateful comment from another member, please contact a moderator immediately.
- Do not start arguments with other members in the threads: if you have an issue with another member, please contact a moderator. Do not start an argument or a fight in a thread or board. These will not be tolerated, and both offenders will receive a warning and/or temporary ban, depending on how serious the fight was, and what it was about. Casual and friendly debates over things like "photocard presses" or "which albums come with cards are okay", but do not escalate to name-calling or threats.
- Do not insult Kpop groups or group members: we all have our biases, and we all have our reasons for loving them. We all have our personal opinions, and sharing them is one thing, but using "opinions" to insult Kpop groups or particular members of certain groups is something else entirely. Please do not post hateful comments about a Kpop group, a member in a group, or towards a forum member's bias. Having an opinion is perfectly fine, but don't go around telling people "so-and-so sucks" or "so-and-so is a slut" or "this group or that group are untalented, and they should disband." Mods will not tolerate this kind of behavior. If anyone sends you hateful PMs or comments concerning a Kpop group or artist, please contact any of the mods immediately.
- No double posting or spamming of the threads: "double posting" (or "spamming") is you making more than one post, in a row, and within 24 hours of each other. (For example, you comment once, and then comment again 5 minutes later, and there is no post from another member dividing your posts--that is double posting.) For "bumping" your personal trading, selling, buying, or wishlist/collection threads, please see the Buying/Selling/Trading Rules & Guidelines for more information. In other threads, please use the [EDIT] option if you need to add something to your previous comment, fix a member tag, or add a reply to another member.
- Keep the language at a PG/PG-13 level: some of you may not understand the PG or PG-13 rating system, so here's what it means--keep foul language to a minimum at all times. Some swearing in threads like the Venting Thread is okay (we all get a little frustrated and angry some times). If you are using excessive swearing in the Venting Thread, please use spoiler tags in case the swearing offends other members. Please, no excessive or unnecessary use of the f-word on this forum, and please no swearing at other members.
- Do not publicly post personal addresses or phone numbers: we all dislike scammers, and we all want to alert others of potential scammers in any way we can. However, we will not allow the posting of personal addresses of anyone on this forum, including scammers. If any of the mods see an address in a post (for a forum member, or for a potential scammer), we will edit it out of the post, and send a warning to the member who posted it. Posting personal information on the Internet is illegal in some countries, and we will not allow it on our forum. If you want to know the address of a scammer because you fear you may be dealing with one, private message any of the mods and we will confirm if that address is on our private scammers' addresses list. Names and general location (i.e., country) of any potential scammers are allowed to be posted in the Scammers Thread. This applies to your own personal information as well. Please do not post it publicly on the forum. If seen, it will be removed.
- No accusations of scamming: please do not accuse anyone (forum members or eBay/tumblr/youtube/twitter/Instagram sellers or traders) of being scammers without proof. Do not accuse sellers of selling you fake photocards without second, third, and fourth opinions on your suspected fakes. Our forum is a friendly place, and unproven/uncalled-for accusations of scamming does not make for a friendly place. If you have issues with sellers or traders, feel free to post in the Is This Trader Trustworthy?/Is This Seller Trustworthy? threads, or privately contact any of the mods. If you are concerned about photocards being fake, please post in the Is My Photocard Fake? thread.
- No accusations of shill bidding: eBay is a really crazy place, and frequent bidding wars occur. We know it's really frustrating to not get the cards that you want, but that does not mean that you may accuse sellers of shilling their auctions. Accusations of sellers shill bidding their auctions will not be tolerated here. It is almost the equivalent of accusing them of scamming. So, unless you have SUFFICIENT proof that they are shilling, please do not make any such accusations here. If you have concerns with that seller, please contact eBay about them rather than accuse them here.
- Please do not make new threads for pre-existing topics: if threads on fake photocards or scam sellers or what's coming in the mail exist already, please do not create a new thread for these topics. Please post in the appropriate, already-created threads; those threads are there for that very reason, and to provide organization for this forum and its boards.
- Please do not make duplicate threads: this goes hand-in-hand with the creating threads for pre-existing topics, but we want to reiterate it here. Please do not create new threads containing the same/similar content as previous threads. This seems to be common among personal buying/selling/trading threads. We urge you not to do this, as many old threads will end up being neglected, and cause confusion for any members who see them. This guideline is also posted in the Buying/Telling/Trading Rules & Guidelines section. Any duplicated threads found by the mods will be locked and deleted within 24 hours of your next log-in.
- Shoutbox: all General Posting Rules & Guidelines apply when using the Shoutbox. The only exception is the double-posting rule; you are allowed to double-post in the Shoutbox, so long as you are not posting spam of any kind. 256 characters is too limited to always get in what you need to say; that is why we are allowing for double-posting there. Also keep trade/sales requests and/or trade/sale advertisements out of the shoutbox and only to threads.
--name-calling
--negative comments made towards another member's skin color, gender, race, ethnicity, religious affiliation, or sexual orientation
--negative/hurtful comments made towards a particular Kpop group or member
--threats of any kind towards another member
--excessive swearing directed at a member or members
--unprovoked verbal attacks towards other members
~ Signature/Avatar/Display Name Rules & Guidelines ~
We all love our display names & our signatures. They're like a piece of our personality, and we all have a right to have one.
However, there are some rules & guidelines that need to be followed.
- Signature Size: please keep in mind the size of the image you are wanting to use as your signature. The maximum dimension permitted for signatures is a width of 600 pixels and a height of 200 pixels. Below is a guide so you can see what that size is. 30 pixels height leeway will be given for gif signatures only because they are usually shorter in width so maximum dimensions for gif signatures is 500 pixels width by 230 pixels high.
- Please do not use overly large square images in your signature (no more than 300 pixels x 300 pixels). Members violating this rule will be messaged by a mod, and they will be required to change their signature.
- Signature Content: please do not use an image in your signature that depicts any sort of abuse, violence, offensive nudity, pornography, racism, sexism, or any sort of hate towards a particular religion or sexual orientation. This forum is a friendly place, and this kind of stuff will not be tolerated. Members violating this rule will be messaged by a mod, and they will be required to change their signature. If you have concerns about a member's signature content, feel free to contact any of the mods about it.
- Avatar Content: the same rules for Signature Content applies to Avatar content. Any members that have concerns about a member's avatar, feel free to contact any of the mods about it.
- Display Names: please do not use a display name that contains any sort of abuse, violence, racism, sexism, or any sort of hate towards a particular religion or sexual orientation even if it's an inside joke amongst a fandom. Members violating this rule will be messaged by a mod, and they will be required to change their Display Name. If you have concerns about a member's Display Name, feel free to contact any of the mods about it.
~ Image Posting Rules & Guidelines ~
I don't know any collector who doesn't like showing off their collection of goodies.
I don't know any collector who doesn't like to show off pictures of newly released goodies.
And I definitely don't know any artist who doesn't like to show off their creations.
We all love to post pictures of our collections, and all the goodies we get in the mail daily. Us artists LOVE sharing our work, whether it be a fanart of something, or an edit of an existing picture. And I know members love sharing pictures of fanarts or edits they find floating around on tumblr or Instagram. This forum welcomes all of those kinds of sharing!!
However, there are rules & guidelines for posting images that need to be followed.
- Posting limits for pictures and use of spoiler tags: this is a blog (mainly) about photocard collecting, so of course there are going to be pictures showing off collections and daily photocard hauls. However, too many pictures can result in slow loading times for those members who aren't blessed with fast Internet, so we need to be considerate of those people. If you are posting more than 5 small-sized/medium-sized images, please use spoiler tags. If you are posting more than 3 large-sized images, please use spoiler tags. Use of spoiler tags will decrease load times for users with slow Internet.
- Credit original owners: say you just found a picture of your favorite artist's newest photocard set, and all you want to do is share it with others! So you post the image on the forum for you and other fans to gush about, but you don't credit the original poster of the picture. Or, say you found this awesome fanart of your favorite OTP and you just have to share it! So you post it on the forum, but don't credit the owner. Please credit all original owners of all pictures posted on the forum. This is a huge courtesy to those fans that took those pictures, and an even bigger courtesy to artists who worked hard on that edit you wanted to share. If you cannot find the original owner of a picture, fanart, or edit, please use the credit tag "cr: original owner." Not crediting the original owner is almost like trying to take credit for something you did not create. So please, credit any and all pictures that do not belong to you.
Appropriate ways of crediting original owners of pictures:
--link to the original post where you found the pictures
--tag posts with "cr: [owner's name]", or with "cr: original owner" if the original owner is unknown
~ Buying/Selling/Trading/Wishlist Rules & Guidelines ~
Everyone on here has photocard collections, and the only way for us all to complete them is to buy cards, sell cards for money to buy more cards, or trade cards with others.
These rules & guidelines are in place to ensure that this forum remains a safe place for buying, selling, and trading photocards.
General Posting Rules & Guidelines and Image Posting Rules & Guidelines apply to all Buying/Selling/Trading and Wishlist threads.
- Personal Buying/Selling/Trading/Wishlist Threads: please limit these threads to as few as possible. Members are allowed to have 1 active Wishlist thread, and 1 active thread in any of the Buying, Selling, or Trading photocard boards. If a buying/selling/trading thread is obsolete (ex., you wanted to trade a photocard for another and had a successful trade, so that card is no longer up for trading), please put in a Thread Deletion Request to the mods. These guidelines are in place to ensure our forum stays as organized as possible. Also, please make sure that all threads are posted in the appropriate board. If you accidentally post a thread in the wrong board, contact any of the mods, and they will move the thread for you. Please do not create a new thread.
- Single Card Trade Thread: you are allowed to have multiple threads active in this board. Only post in the Single Card Trade Board if you have one card you are wanting to trade, or one card that you want to trade for. Ex., You have one LeeTeuk photocard, and you want to trade him for a DongHae photocard; ex. 2, you have two Hoya photocards, and you are willing to trade one or the other, or both, for a DongWoo photocard. Please read this post thoroughly before posting in this thread. Threads found to have violated these guidelines will be moved to the regular Trading Board.
- Personal Buying/Selling/Trading Threads "bump" policy: personal threads in the buying, selling, and trading threads are allowed to be "bumped" once every 24 hours. For wishlist threads, when edits are made, you are allowed to post a comment stating that you have updated the thread.
- Thread content: please do not include any personal information in any of the wishlist, buying, selling, or trading threads. Things like the city/country you live in and email addresses are okay. Phone numbers are not allowed in any personal Buying/Selling/Trading/Wishlist threads. This forum is an international community, so posting a phone number will not do much good anyways, as a lot of the members are not in the same country you are. If you are found to have posted a phone number in your thread, or a comment on a thread, the number will be removed by a moderator immediately. If you desire, you may exchange number via Private Messages ONLY. No exceptions.
This guideline is also posted in the General Posting Rules & Guidelines section. Any duplicated threads found by the mods will be locked and deleted within 24 hours of your next log-in.
- Fanmade/Fake photocards: if you are selling or trading, or wanting to buy, fanmade or fake photocards, please state in the thread title and opening post that the cards you are selling, trading, or looking to buy are fanmade/fake. Please do not mislead other members. Anyone found to be violating this will receive warnings from the mods. If you are concerned that photocards in a certain buy/sell/trade thread may be fake, please feel free to contact the mods.
- Forum Policy on Scamming: scamming or scamming attempts of any kind will not be tolerated on this forum. Any member who scams, or who attempts to scam, another member, and have solid evidence against them proving the scam/scam attempt, will be permanently banned. No exceptions. If you are afraid that you might have been scammed by another forum member, please feel free to contact any of the mods.
~ Acceptable Payment Methods Allowed on the Photocard Forum ~
Everyone on here buys photocards. Sure, a lot of us like to be able to trade duplicates for cards we don't have, but a lot of us also end up buying cards on here, tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or eBay. It is important to us moderators that each member of our forum sends money in a safe and reliable way. If there were ever to be any problems, sending money via the correct, reliable service is the only way to receive a refund, if matters were to come to that.
That is why we have decided on FOUR ACCEPTABLE PAYMENT METHODS to be allowed on this forum.
- PayPal: probably the most common method of payment among forum members. Money may be sent as a "Gift" payment AT THE BUYER'S OWN RISK, but it is highly recommended you sent it via "Goods/Services." By sending items via "Goods/Services," if you ever have to file a case to get a refund for a purchase, you will be able to do so. YOU CANNOT FILE A CASE IF YOU SEND MONEY AS A GIFT. For more information on sending and receiving PayPal payments, please read this thread. For more information on opening a PayPal case, please read this thread. Opening a PayPal account is free, however some countries require you to be 18 years of age or older to have an account.
- Bank Transfer: a lot of people don't mind transferring money to one another using their own bank accounts. This is a safe method of payment (as it is done through a trusted bank/organization), and therefore, it is allowed to be listed on the forum as an acceptable payment method. How to do a bank transfer varies on your bank, so it would be best to check out your bank's website, or contact their customer service for more details. Bank transfers may accrue transfer and currency conversion fees, especially for international transfers. Some banks may not allow you to perform international transfers. This method is considered to be an option you look into after PayPal.
- Concealed Cash (CC): concealed cash would be the third acceptable payment method allowed on the forum. However, it will always be AT THE BUYER'S OWN RISK. Sellers cannot be responsible for lost or stolen CC. Most sellers on here will not accept CC from a country other than the one they live in (due to difference in currency), however some do not mind accepting foreign currency. This option would come after PayPal and bank transfers, and it is the only option for those of you who do not have your own PayPal account or bank account (though most banks here in the US allow people 16 years of age--sometimes younger--to get an account as long as they have an adult approve it; not sure about other countries, but you can always contact a local bank for more information).
- Money Order purchased at Post Office or other REPUTABLE Organization: A fourth and final option of payment would be a Money Order. These can usually be purchased at a Post Office, and some times stores (such as WalMart and Kroger in the United States). This option isn't as common nowadays, but it will be allowed on the forum AS LONG AS the Money Order is purchased through a REPUTABLE organization (e.g., Post Office). Money Orders can be refunded if something happens and the order is lost/stolen. Make sure to keep all paperwork regarding any money orders you send. MONEY ORDERS FROM WESTERN UNION/MONEYGRAM ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE HERE. See below for more details.
There are also UNACCEPTABLE PAYMENT METHODS that will not be allowed on this forum. These payment methods are unacceptable because they have no kind of buyer protection, and are often seen in common scams (e.g., 419 scams, "advance fee" fraud scams, internet purchase scams, etc.). These methods are untraceable, and once the money has been sent via them, THERE IS NO WAY TO RETRIEVE IT. While that may also be true with CC, these services are far worse as many sellers that use them try to tell you that they are "safe" and you will be able to receive a refund if "something were to happen." And many inexperienced buyers will send off money to sellers using these payment methods, and there is a good chance that money, and the item you bought with it, will never be seen.
- Wire transfers: wire transfers, while quick at sending money, are UNTRACEABLE and NONREFUNDABLE. If something were to happen to your purchase (ex., you never received it), and you wanted a refund, if you paid via wire transfer, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RECEIVE A REFUND. Wire transfer services include companies like Western Union, and MoneyGram--two very common methods of payment scammers like to use. These companies are "point-to-point" wire transfer services, are NOT the same as a bank wire transfer (bank transfer), and they are not allowed on this forum (or any other company similar to them, but these two are the ones most commonly seen).
- Western Union/MoneyGram Money Orders: they are not allowed on this forum. Western Union and MoneyGram are NOT PROTECTED FORMS OF PAYMENT, and there is a reason eBay, or other reputable online shops such as Amazon, don't allow them: any money sent through that service is nonrefundable, regardless of what the website and sellers may tell you. If you want more information, just google "Western Union"/"MoneyGram" and "scam." Even if they may be "refundable," we will not allow those services on our forum due to the history surrounding such wire transfer services.
- Money Remittance Centers: a lot of countries have centers called "money remittance centers." They are similar to Western Union and MoneyGram being that they are wire transfers. AGAIN, MONEY SENT VIA REMITTANCE CENTERS IS NONREFUNDABLE AND UNTRACEABLE. ONCE THE MONEY IS SENT, IT IS GONE; THERE IS NO WAY TO GET IT BACK.
If a forum member contacts you and wants you to pay via any of the above listed UNACCEPTABLE PAYMENT METHODS, please contact a moderator IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT SEND THEM THE MONEY.
~ Back-out Fees ~
As of this time, we do not allow members to charge each other back-out fees on transactions. While we understand that having buyers back out of a transaction can be extremely frustrating for you as a seller, it is unethical to charge someone money for changing their mind. If a buyer backs out on you, you are free to choose to refuse to do business with them in the future, but we will not tolerate attempting to charge a fee. If a seller attempts to charge you with a back-out fee, please contact a moderator immediately.
