Hey guys! addictedtoyouleesungmin here!
I recently got a message from a member saying they weren't sure how to add images into their posts, so I'm making a picture guide on how to do it! :D I'm sure the person that contacted me isn't the only one having issues (even I had to play around when I first joined, as I wasn't sure how to), so hopefully this guide will be helpful to those of you who don't know, or aren't sure, how to put pictures into posts. ^^
My fellow mods: I couldn't decide whether to put this in the GUIDES board, or the HELP board, so I posted it initially in the HELP board (since it may be considered an FAQ by some). If you feel the need to move it to the GUIDES board, feel free to do so. ^^ --addictedtoyouleesungmin
There are two different ways to insert pictures into your posts on this forum:
1. Using the [Insert Image] button in the toolbar -- for when you want to use links to post pictures into a post
2. Using the [Add Attachment] button next to the title bar -- for when you want to upload a picture from your computer into a post
This guide will show you how to insert images both ways. ^^
Also, there is a section on how to resize images that are too large using BBcode. It was written by @jaesunnie, so they get full credit for it. ^^
1. Inserting an image via the [Insert Image] option
When you first hit [Create Thread] or [Reply] on any of the Boards/Threads, you will be brought to this screen:
Running along the top of the text box, and under the SUBJECT line is your editing toolbar for the post. After typing whatever it is you want to type in the text box, you can inert pictures (you can also do this before you type anything). To insert a picture, you will want to click on the button in your toolbar that has a picture on it. This is the [Insert Image] button:
After clicking the [Insert Image] button, a box will pop up over your post. This is the Insert Image Box:
In the Image URL box, you will want to copy-and-paste a link to your picture.
You can use links to pictures from tumblr, or any other photo-sharing website (Photobucket, Twitter, Twitpic, Instagram, etc.).
So, for example, say you had an image on your tumblr, and you wanted to paste it into the post you're making. You will:
1. Go to your tumblr.
2. Find the image that you are wanting to insert into the post.
3. Right-click the image, and select "Copy Image URL."
4. Come back to the Insert Image Box, right-click on the [Image URL] box, and select "Paste."
That will insert the URL (link) to your picture into the Insert Image Box:
After pasting the image link in the Image URL box, you will want to click [Insert Image] to insert the picture into your post. After you click it, your post should look like this:
You can insert as many images as you want using this method. However, if they are very large, or if you have a lot of pictures you want to post, please use spoiler tags ( [ spoiler ] and [ /spoiler ] minus the spaces) so your post isn't too image-heavy. Too many images in post can cause lags for people who aren't using fast Internet.
You will want to use the spoiler tags if you are inserting more than 5 small-sized/medium-sized images, or more than 3 large-sized images (these are just general forum rules). If you want to insert all images under a spoiler tag, you are welcome to do so.
2. Inserting an image via the [Add Attachments] option
The second way of adding pictures into a post is using the [Add Attachments] option. It is located next to the [Add Poll] button by the Subject line.
NOTE: [Add Attachment] button does not appear in replies for Private Messages, so the only option for posting images in PMs is to use the [Insert Image] option.
When you click the [Add Attachments] button, this box appears over the text box:
With this option, you are not copying and pasting links from tumblr, or other photo-sharing websites, but uploading your own pictures from your computer, or other removable disk devices (such as a flash drive).
So, you will want to click on [+ Add files...], and an OPEN box will appear:
To insert your image, you will want to:
1. Locate the image on your computer's hard drive (or flash drive)
2. Select the image.
3. Click [OPEN].
After you click [OPEN], your screen will look like this:
The picture will upload to the forum from your computer, and when the upload is complete, the bar will turn green.
Now, there's a couple of different options here:
1. You can insert just that one image manually by clicking [Insert]. (If you accidentally selected the wrong picture, you can click [Delete], and then go find the correct image.)
NOTE: If you don't click [Insert] and click [Done] instead, the images will be inserted at the very end of your post. Clicking [Insert] allows you to choose where in the post you want your images.
2. You can add more files by clicking [+ Add Files...].
NOTE: Only 3 files can be added to a post using the [Add Attachment] option, so if you want to add more, you will need to use the [Insert Image] option.
After you hit [Insert], here is what your post will look like:
Pictures inserted this way will be smaller than if you use the [Insert Image] option, but they will be clickable, so you and others can click them to view the image at its full size.
~ Resizing Images using BBCode ~

After you insert a picture into a post using either the methods described above, or using BBCode if you're skilled in using it, your post will look like this:
As you'll see here, the picture is pretty big.
All you have to do to resize the image is this:
Click on the BBCode tab at the bottom of the text box, and your text box will look like this:
And then you'll see the BBCode. It can, of course, be a bit more confusing if there are more URL's, or more text.
Next, locate where it says "max-width" in the code. What you would like to change in this code is the percent-number after "Max-width:" - In this case, 100%. Go ahead and change it to 50%:
The final result after you click on the Preview tab:
If you still think the picture is too big, just head back and change the numbers again. When the picture is posted in the thread, you can click, and then you'll end up in a new tab, with the picture in the full size. - Don't be afraid to try and change the number up guys :D
Thank you @jaesunnie for this helpful guide on BBCode. ^^ I'm not too familiar with it myself, so this really helped me out!! ^^
That concludes this guide on how to insert pictures into your posts. ^^
As always, if you have any questions, fell free to comment below, and any of the mods or experienced members will be happy to help you. ^^
Or you're always welcome to PM mods if you ever need any help or advice. We're here to help!!
