GUIDE TO SPOTTING FAKE EBAY LISTINGS
This thread is in the right section, correct? I mean this is the help board after all. omf for once my font isn't small and i'm typing properly But if you've been a photocard collector for quite some time, you're probably run into fake photocards once or twice, in my case 3 times omf. To prevent that from happening to you guise, I'm making this little guide! Please note that I said guide, and nothing is really set in stone. Meaning there could be actual listings with these aspects. Also, fake listings may vary. At the time I wanted to make this post, there were no listings I could show you guise in example, but unfortunately after a while of browsing I ran into one. So guise, it's safe to say that fake sellers are back. u_____u Now, they've been around and after reading this, you'll be able to spot one very easily. Fake sellers usually like to come back when their accounts get revoked, and surprising enough they even use the same layout. Fake sellers even have various accounts, but tbh I suspect they're all the same person. I know this from experience when I purchased fake cards, both from different sellers, but came in the same white envelope, not even bubble wrapped, and a small printed note ( I can't remember if the address was the same, most likely was ). Here's the example listing I will be using. FIRST KEY THING: DESCRIPTION
This fake seller always uses the same layout for his or her description, so it'll be impossible to pass this up. The color of the font will sometimes vary, and so will the categories, but it will always have this simple and fugly design ok. I usually tend to look for bulkier descriptions, something with more detail and shipping info. SECOND KEY THING: FEEDBACK STARS
If the description isn't enough to convince you a listing is fake, don't be afraid to check the seller's feedback stars. In this case, this fake lister has a whopping low 25. Now sellers who are just beginning their eBay journey may have a little amount of stars, so this is just an iffy thing. If you click on the number, it will take you to the seller's feedback. In this case, they only had feedback as a buyer, not a seller. He / she probably does this to build up their positive feedback, wow. THIRD KEY THING: PRODUCT IMAGE
I tend to stay away from listings with scans, only cause I don't wanna risk things and I find all of their listings include scanned images. Possibly these ones he / she prints out on the fake cards? Idek. But just like the number of feedback stars, this is another iffy thing. After going through their other fake listings, I found one with an actual picture of the cards ( omf this was an actual listing I bid on way back though ).
LAST KEY THING: IF THE SELLING APPEARS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE
I mean c'mon, a set of really expensive or rare cards that are up for bid? Especially starting at $0.99? You've oughts to be slightly suspicious at that. I saw the seller also has a set of white borders for bid, usually if sellers are going to list rare or expensive cards in a set, I usually see them for the "Buy it now!" option, rarely up for bid.
But yes! I hope this guide has helped you guise in spotting future fake listings. ;______; Sorry if parts of the post didn't make sense, idek. But if you guise have any other tips to add, feel free to leave them in the comments! Also, don't be afraid to post in the comments if you suspect a listing is fake but not quite sure, I'm sure the fellow members would be glad to help you. = u =

Great post!
It also bears to be said that these listings are all from the notorious yoona-shop, aka official-kpop, aka honesty-card, aka a million other different usernames that they've had over the past few months. They never change the images or format of their listings so they're very easy to spot.
This seller in particular also ships from "seoul, seoul, Korea, South" but also has payment in GBP-- not USD. Very easy to tell who they are.
Keep in mind that some sellers do use scans, however, so looking at the feedback is also important.

levelgrind but well you know that not always feedbacks reveals everything, ayways the GBP is always suspicious, also sets are suspiciuos too, anyways I never had a problem with an ebay seller, idk how people can bid those cards when it screams fake

OMG I saw a post by that lover_messsi person just some week ago and it was 4 volume up cards and the starting bid was like 10.38 dollars or something I thought it was odd and too good to be true. And then the pictures looked like they were scanned and the light looked edited. I sent a message and said that I wanted to see the back of those cards and the person said that they didn't have a camera at the moment. =__= yeah sure what a great seller that doesn't even have like a phone? I didn't bid on anything and I'm glad I didn't. And won't ever from that seller. Thank you for making this post it was very helpful

leeflay they didn't have a camera at the moment? wow, that's the first time i've heard that excuse. ;_____; i've bought from the seller a few times, when i was beginning to photocard collect and was clearly oblivious to fakes, since i didn't know they existed. i bid on some btob press play cards and i had one of my own, and i compared and the thickness as well as the cutting was off. not to mention that the backs were even printed the wrong way. like, seriously? if you're gonna try to make fakes, at least try and make them look good.

Thank you very much for these tips! I've always wanted to purchase a few cards from ebay but the thing that stopped me was the fear of the item being official or not since I once purchased a photo card and turned out to be printed D:

yjaybaby Always feel free to ask the board for their opinion on a seller's items! You can also check out our list of eBay sellers here, and if you have any commentary to add, we'd be glad to add them.

I found two guides ( [x] [x]) which show how you can recognize fake cards, which can also be helpful to spot fake eBay listings. Of course you cannot always trust the pictures that fake sellers upload since they can be taken from other sellers. The writer also posts a lot of fake listings on her Tumblr and has a list with fake and trustworthy sellers. In combination with the tips mentioned above the guides could maybe make it easier to spot the fake listings ^^

i was looking at the guides that meeltje2951 posted last night and i found this ebay just like 5 seconds ago and i'm 100% their cards are fake as well! they have 5 listings including: 2 oh! white borders, 2 suju cards and 1 infinite card. they have 8 feedback all as a buyer and all their listings are bids, starting all at $0.99. something's fishy is going on.

lightningislame, I agree, they are all fake. The corners of the Infinite card are not round as they should be (see the little point on the end of the corner). The SJ ones seem to have a weird non-matching stripe at the bottom, even though the Donghae cards has the little points on the corners, I wouldn't trust it. And then the SNSD cards, the corners are uneven/not the same size.

I'm not sure where to post this but I REALLY want to buy the Inspirit cards and I found this seller. I really badly want their Inspirit cards but that's a lot of money to drop on trust. The prices seem realistic to me and not 'too good to be true'. I'm considering only buying Sungkyu to start but I'm scared the rest of the cards would sale before I'd have a chance to come back for them. ;_; Does this seem legit? I'm still really new to photocards.
